At NTT DATA, we believe that the power of education and equal opportunities is the foundation of a more just, innovative, and prosperous society. Across Latin America, the technology sector faces a critical talent gap: only 3 in 10 people possess basic digital skills, and the region is short over 300,000 cybersecurity professionals. In Brazil alone, the annual demand for ICT specialists reaches 159,000, while only 53,000 graduate each year—leading to a projected deficit of over 500,000 professionals by 2025. This shortage threatens not only innovation but also the region’s economic resilience and digital transformation.
NTT DATA Academy and IT For Girls emerged to tackle this challenge. Our mission is clear: to promote inclusive, high-quality education, foster gender equity in the tech industry, and create career opportunities for underrepresented groups, especially women, people with disabilities, and neurodivergent individuals, who often face systemic barriers to access and advancement in technology.
Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDGs 1, 4, 5, and 8, we offer a learning platform that combines cutting-edge technical training, professional guidance, and certifications.
NTT DATA Academy and IT For Girls contribute directly to poverty reduction by offering free technical education and career opportunities to people without access to such resources. By enabling individuals to enter the technology market, the program helps break poverty cycles, offering new job perspectives in high-demand areas.
NTT DATA Academy and IT For Girls are direct examples of promoting quality education by providing technical training in fields like information security, software development, cloud, and other IT specializations. The focus on inclusion also reflects a commitment to making education accessible to women and underrepresented groups in tech, aligning with the goal of equitable learning opportunities.
IT For Girls is fundamentally focused on female empowerment in the tech sector, traditionally male-dominated. The program provides mentoring and guidance from NTT DATA female professionals, encouraging female participation in critical tech areas and promoting female leadership. This helps reduce gender disparities and fosters a more balanced and inclusive work environment.
NTT DATA Academy supports SDG 8 by preparing participants for skilled jobs in technology, helping to meet the growing demand for ICT professionals. By providing free technical training and certifications, the program not only facilitates entry into the workforce but also supports economic development by increasing the number of qualified workers who can drive technological innovation in Brazil.
With over 37,000 lives impacted by 2025, our journey is sustained by strategic partnerships with major technology providers, NGOs, and the engagement of passionate volunteers. Our strength lies in our collaborative organizational culture, which encourages knowledge sharing and building bridges between the job market and future talents.
IT For Girls is one of our most important pillars. Since its inception, over 21,000 participants across 22 countries in Latin America have been impacted. 7,900 certifications have been awarded, and women at NTT DATA serve as mentors, guiding and inspiring participants in fields like information security, software development, cloud, and leadership. With live-streamed events and an increasing impact each year, we are transforming the lives of thousands of young women, empowering them to become leaders and innovators in technology.
By 2030, we aim to impact 50,000 lives, expanding our reach and offering opportunities for even more people to pursue successful tech careers. We know the future of innovation depends on our ability to develop and empower diverse talents, and this goal is an unwavering commitment to the future of Brazil and the world. This manifesto reaffirms our belief that Latin America’s future and technology depend on how we invest in the present. Together, NTT DATA Academy and IT For Girls will transform region’s reality, empowering people, building careers, and creating a more inclusive, sustainable, and innovative ecosystem for all.
